Aspiration pneumonia often presents as fever, cough, and shortness of breath, sometimes 24 to 48 hours after a swallowing episode; seeking treatment early can prevent progression to respiratory failure.
A hospitalization for infection or injury is a critical point in Parkinson’s disease. Hospital-acquired infections, medication timing disruptions, and immobility during recovery can accelerate decline.
